Tika grew up on the family farm outside Otari. This life bored her, and her accidental wanderings off the homestead when younger turned into intentional delves into caves and crags as she aged.
This wasn't just for the shinies. Sure, it was mostly for the shinies, but the intricate underground cave systems led to lots of strange and exciting interactions, and this is what she lived for.
She eventually decided to put her adventuring skills to good use and desired to join the Osprey Club. While out scouting the ruins of Gauntlight Keep, she stumbled across a small party of adventurers, and decided to join them to plunder the riches of the lighthouse and mysteries beneath.
OOC: My first character death in... a very long time. While fighting cultists in the Abomination Vaults, one of them fled and alerted their leader, Nhakazarin, to our presence.
The party finished off the cultists and immediately engaged Nhakazarin with a double-team by Tika and the party monk. A failed save against the leader's Command spell meant the monk fled and left Tika as the next target. A critical fail against Vampiric Touch was enough to drain Tika to zero hit points.
None of us even realized the full extent of what had happened at that point. We were confused why Foundry said she was dead, rather than just unconscious. The DM had not noticed the Death trait on Vampiric Touch, and thus Tika's life came to an end.
The monk started to return, but wasn't back yet, so the cleric and sorceror had to drag Tika's corpse out of the room. The monk returned just in time to grab Tika and get the chamber door shut. Combat turned into trying to keep the door shut until the cleric's turn, when he used a scroll of Lock on the door. We breathed a sigh of relief... but Nhakazarin was able to cast Dispel Magic, which succeeded and broke the lock. Thankfully, the cleric was prepared with a second lock scroll. Having exhausted the only dispel, the lock held Nhakazarin inside, as the party took Tika's corpse back to town.
Between sessions, there was a joke about Tika coming back as a ghoul bard (she had picked up ghoul fever in a previous encounter), but I instead decided to flesh out Spike, originally a joke character I had made after a comment about a spike trap we encountered earlier in the dungeon.
