When a halfling family visited the Otari graveyard one fateful day, they found something unexpected- the nearly lifeless frame of a young orc child abandoned in an unused grave.

The family brought the orc home and did their best to raise him.  He was supported by his new family and grew up as a responsible member of the local town of Otari.

However, the mystery of Spike's origins never fully escaped him.  Despite an eclectic and varied cast of regular visitors both from Absolom and within Otari itself, he would regularly notice sideways glances, apprehension, and fingers discreetly pointed at the scars on his skin whenever he left the family homestead and was in town.

Worried that his continued presence would tarnish his family's name (or worse, lose the ability to control himself after years of whispered conversations thought out of his earshot), he decided to leave his family and rehomed himself to Absalom.  While there, he joined the local temple to Iomedae and worked for the district guard.

Upon his most recent return to visit family, Spike learned of his sister's demise within Gauntlight Keep.  He immediately joined her companions to avenge his sister's death and clear out the evil beneath the Gauntlight.
